It’s hard to imagine that there’s anyone in the world who isn’t aware of the coronavirus pandemic. For the cast of Big Brother Germany, that bubble is about to be burst. The 14-person cast of the long-running reality series entered the house in Cologne on February 6. The show requires that cast members have no communication with the world outside the house. As a result, they are unaware of the coronavirus pandemic.
The last of the cast members to have access to the outside world were the four housemates who were introduced on March 6. Three days later, Germany reported its first coronavirus death.
The fact that the cast has no idea of what’s going on caused a recent uproar online.
German station Sat.1 ensured that producers are taking measures to protect the housemates. As more blowback emerged, they decided they would inform the housemates in a live episode on March 17 at 7 p.m.
